In another joint venture with theater designer Dave Tanizaki, GFBA Architects completed the architectural documents for the Pacific 16 Theaters at the Lakewood Shopping Center. The project consisted of the refurbishment and expansion of the existing four-plex complex to a sixteen-plex, with a resulting increase in floor area from 40,000 to 100,000 square feet. In addition to providing the construction document package, GFBA Architects was also responsible for obtaining all entitlements and permits for Los Angeles County and the City of Lakewood.
In addition to the sizable floor expansion, GFBA also re-designed the exterior façade, the marquee, the concession stands, restroom facilities, and the box office. As is the custom for the theater management clientele, the project construction was fast tracked, and this complex was completed in eight months.
