GFBA Architects designed the Chancellor Village as part of a development team consisting of Village Care, the City of Cerritos, and Cerritos College. The two-story building is located in a former strawberry farm on property belonging to Cerritos College. Part of the charm of the Spanish-style complex is the attention to landscaping including two interior courtyards with entirely different plant material, a large exterior-walking garden featuring a fountain, three pergolas, and a large barbeque pit.
Chancellor village has 147 units, a porte chochere providing access to a grand octagonal entry foyer, and a two story dining room with a coffered ceiling and pendant lighting. Because of the close working relationship with the management team, Chancellor Village embodies the latest guidelines for facility design in assisted care housing for the aged.
The project was honored with an Excellence in Design Award by the Senior Living Association of the West.
